St. Mary’s H.S. Students Participate in Inaugural STEM Math and Science Education Program in D.C.
50 St. Mary’s high school students from St. Mary’s County STEM Academy and the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Tech Center were in Washington Dec. 3 to participate in the Association of Old Crow’s inaugural STEM Program, where they joined more than 200 other D.C. area students for an all-day science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) experience that included interactive learning stations from robots to radar and more.
The STEM program was sponsored by Raytheon Company and also included a college recruiting area. Additionally, students participated in a “Day in the Life of an Engineer” panel that gave students the opportunity to pulse industry engineers from Raytheon, the U.S. Navy Air Center (NAVAIR) and Georgia Tech about all things related to careers in STEM.
