3rd Annual Luau for Calvert Hospice a Huge Aloha Success!

PRINCE FREDERICK – Stoney’s Broomes Island hosted the 3rd annual Luau for Calvert Hospice Thursday, August 13, 2015. The Point at Stoney’s Broomes Island served as a perfect venue for the evening, offering a gorgeous landscape and a priceless view of the Patuxent River for guests to enjoy.

Over 300 guests attended the event, doubling the attendance in previous years. Forty-four local businesses and individuals sponsored the Luau, while countless more supported the event by donating dozens of products and services to be used in the silent and live auctions as well as numerous raffles. Guests enjoyed a wide variety of delicious Hawaiian fare throughout the evening, including roast pig and seafood along with Southern Maryland favorites such as raw oysters, shrimp cocktail, Stoney’s famous crab balls, and an array of festive desserts. Party-goers danced the night away to the sounds of the ever-energetic Nightlife Band.

In the spirit of the annual Cancer Gala held at the Rod and Reel in years past, Jeannie and Phil Stone created the Luau for Calvert Hospice in 2013. Each year, the event has grown to become one of the organization’s most viable means of raising funds for the Burnett Calvert Hospice House. Calvert Hospice exceeded their fundraising expectations with preliminary revenues for this event totaling approximately $90,000.
